Harald H. Vogt is the founder of the Scent Marketing Institute, the world’s only independent organization that provides impartial information and education on the use of scent for marketing and branding purposes.
An entrepreneur since the 1980’s, Harald moved from Germany to the US in 1992 to establish the New York office of a German advertising agency. Later he was involved in a number of groundbreaking projects such as the establishment of advertising on ATM’s and public relations work for NASA and the European Space Agencies as they were starting construction of the International Space Station (ISS).
He also assisted a number of European companies looking for a commercial foothold in the US. During that time he frequently evaluated US investment opportunities for a German venture capital firm. After reconnecting with an old class mate from advertising school Harald capitalized on his knowledge of advertising for fine fragrances and his international marketing skills to promote the use of scent in the context of multisensory marketing. Then a novel subject within a small industry not making much progress, Scent Marketing clearly did not have an “independent voice” – which he established with the Scent Marketing Institute.
