Der Ertrag liegt in der Zukunft. Wie leistungsfähig ist der zu übernehmende Betrieb?

Die Angaben über die zu übernehmenden/übergebenden Betriebe weichen je nach Informationsquelle erheblich ab. Meist wird die Zahl von 400.000 Betrieben in den nächsten fünf Jahren genannt. Für die Übergeber herrscht somit eine Konkurrenz um die Übernehmer.
Zusätzlich erschwert wird dieser Umstand des Marktes durch die Struktur der Alterversorgung der bestehenden Inhaber. Laut Creditreform ist der Betrieb bei 50 % der Unternehmer die einzige Alterversorgung, bei weiteren 25 % ist es der grösste Teil der Alterversorgung. Damit ist oftmals schon das ganze Dilemma beschrieben.
